Heaven Official’s Blessing – Season 2 Episode 1 Recap & Review

Introduction

The highly anticipated Season 2 of Heaven Official’s Blessing has finally arrived, and it does not disappoint. This episode starts with Xie Lian waking up alone and discovering the ring left behind by San Lang (Hua Cheng), his love interest. As Xie Lian navigates his way through heaven, he finds himself shunned by everyone except for Prince Taihua (Lang Qianqiu), the naive and friendly new Martial God of the East.

Ban Yue’s Accusation

In court, Pei Ming makes a furious entrance, convinced that Ban Yue has framed his son, Pei Jr. He notices that the injuries inflicted on Pei Jr.’s clone were caused by the notorious scimitar belonging to the Ghost King, Hua Cheng. Mu Qing and Feng Xin confirm this revelation, leaving everyone shocked, including Xie Lian himself. Although Xie Lian feels guilty, Jun Wu advises him to move on and assigns him a new mission.

Cry for Help from Ghost City

A signal is received from Ghost City, indicating that a heavenly official is in need of assistance. Wind Master, who has the power to transform into a female form, joins Xie Lian as they encounter a group of ghosts on their way to Ghost City. These ghosts hope to have their decaying faces rejuvenated at the city. Wind Master, however, refuses to let Xie Lian proceed until he comes up with an excuse for not going. Xie Lian uses the excuse of “performance anxiety” to escape the situation, leaving the ghosts bewildered yet entertained.

Arrival at Ghost City

Finally, Xie Lian arrives at Ghost City, finding himself in a gambling den with a poorly written signboard. The episode ends with a surprising twist as Xie Lian discovers a curtained stage, behind which sits none other than Hua Cheng himself.

One of the highlights of this episode is the hilarious and awkward dynamics between the characters. The opening sequence provides a taste of the interactions to come, showcasing the chemistry and humor within the group. It’s worth mentioning that the animators have done justice to Jun Wu’s character, giving him a visually appealing appearance.
